Such a beautiful evening with this family. I’m glad we’ve found a few spots that are a little bit closer to town but still give us the beauitful moutain backdrops. These guys were such a breeze to work with and we went through my shoot plan quickly and were finished fast with all the images we needed for their gorgeous gallery. What’s a shoot plan you might ask? I always have an idea of what images I definitely want to capture before ever arriving to the session. Part of my client survey asks which images they want included in their gallery. My Pre Session Client Survey also helps me to communicate with the client as much as possible beforehand about what to expect at their session and what their finished product will be. Some families want more emphasis on candid images, others want posed, and some want a mixture of both. It seems like almost every family wants a good posed group shot for their wall and their grandparents wall along with headshots of the kids. I almost always start out with our group shots first unless there is a spare child getting out of the car at the very beginning while everyone is still getting ready and then I’ll grab them and start doing their headshots while they are fresh. After the group shots I move into headshots for each child, often the youngest first if I feel like they are getting restless. Then we’ll come back together for more group shots and parent posed images last because usually mom and dad have the longest attention span. 🙂 I add into these sets any that I think will add to their gallery or special requests from the clients.
This is just one of the many things I do to prep for each client’s session. Doing preparation beforehand helps each session to run smoothly!
